Satellite Television

Satellite Television
Consumers now have a wide range of options to bring entertainment into their homes through their television screens. For many years, cable was the preferred provider for many homes in America. In the past fifteen years, satellite services have become more and more popular. Now with more than twenty million subscribers and thousands more signing on each month, satellite service is the top choice for many consumers.
Setting up a satellite system in your home can be very easy and inexpensive with the great promotional offers through the top satellite providers. To introduce satellite service to your home, you will need to install a small satellite dish with exposure to the southern sky. Inside your home, a receiver can be connected to each television set to deliver exceptional quality in picture and a wide range of channels. Many have the misconception that with a satellite system, everyone in the house must watch the same channels. That is no longer than the case. With a receiver in each room, every person in your family will have their choice of programming on each television.
Satellite service has become more reliable over the years. There is no longer the threat of losing your signal often during thunderstorms or other weather situations. You will be able to continue to enjoy your satellite service whether the sun is shining or the rain is pouring down. Perhaps the most common misconception is that satellite prevents you from being able to welcome local channels into your home. The top satellite providers now provide access to local channels in most markets at no additional charge. There’s no need to trade your local news for the broad offerings of entertainment through satellite services – now you can have them both.
Many consumers choose satellite service not only for the exceptional quality but for the great value. Compared to cable television, satellite services offer more channels of entertainment for your hard earned dollars. In addition, there are a variety of packages offered to meet the needs of your family. Even small packages often offer more than 100 channels. Satellite services offer the ability to customize your service to the viewing habits of your family. Additional packages include extensive sports, music and movie channels. You can subscribe to as little or as many as you would like to provide entertainment to your entire household.
In the United States, satellite services are available through two providers – DISH Network and DIRECTV.
Both services provide excellent customer service and quality digital signals resulting in an excellent picture. Unlike with cable companies, DISH Network and DIRECTV both offer continuous specials that make their service even more attractive to their growing customer base.

High Speed Satellite Internet

High speed satellite Internet is one of the popular Internet solutions for homes and small offices all over the United States. Satellite Internet isn’t a new technology but its widespread application is a relatively recent phenomenon. The two major providers, WildBlue and HughesNet, offer a variety of packages catering to the needs of different kinds of users, from moderate home users to business users and extreme users virtually living on the Internet.

Satellite Internet is certainly on the upward trend in terms of popularity and technological advancements. The basic disadvantage with satellite Internet technology though, is latency. It refers to the time taken for signals to travel from the user to the satellite.

• Since the signal (through which Internet activity is carried out) has to travel quite some distance to reach the satellite orbiting the earth, there is a slight delay which isn’t noticeable in normal broadband Internet tasks, but will be glaringly felt while playing live interactive games as well as during VoIP tasks.

• The speed difference from terrestrial broadband solutions was much greater earlier, but innovation has made broadband performance for high speed satellite Internet a reality with only live interactive gaming and VoIP not supported.

Satellite Internet though, has a significant advantage. There’s absolutely no terrestrial infrastructure such as cables and posts involved in installing a satellite Internet connection. While DSL and cable providers may fail to serve individual customers scattered in sparsely populated and rural areas of America due to the lesser density of potential customers in the particular region and the infrastructural expenses involved, satellite Internet providers will satisfy your demands and connect you to their high speed satellite Internet network. The only equipment involved is the satellite dish and satellite modem for the customer and the satellite in orbit takes care of the coverage.

High speed satellite Internet, therefore, is generally the only solution for home, home office and small office users scattered in rural America. They can enjoy broadband performance up to 1.5 Mbps from their satellite connection. With further technological advancements being carried out, satellite Internet is sure to offer customers even greater performance.

Watch Satellite TV Ok?

People watch satellite TV for many reasons. If you are watching satellite TV now, you will understand that sitting in front of the TV and enjoying the solid picture quality and variety of satellite TV programs is one of the best entertainment avenue. Want to know more about satellite TV? What are some of the reasons why TV viewers in America, Canada, UK, Australia and all parts of the world watch satellite TV?

Satellite TV offers excellent picture quality comparable if not better than cable TV. People who live in fringe terrestrial reception areas love satellite TV because this is the only form of TV entertainment they have, other than buying or renting movies and TV shows. As long as you have clear skies without any obstruction by skyscrapers, mountains and hills, trees, etc, you have no problem receiving the feeds and watch satellite TV at any time.

There are two common methods to watch satellite TV. You get satellite TV either by subscribing with the service providers such as DirecTV and Sky Digital or build a do- it-yourself satellite dish system. With the service provider, you get to watch satellite TV every month by paying a monthly subscription fee. Installation and equipment can be free though unlike setting up your own DIY system. I wouldn’t advise you to set up your own if you are not the hands-on type of person. The whole process can be an arduous and painful journey.

One clear edge satellite TV has is it has a wider selection of programs than cable TV. And the best thing is there are numerous international popular channels that you can choose to watch. Satellite TV and cable TV do have some common features such as pay-per-download or view, premium channels, broadband connection. Another advantage of satellite TV over cable is the capability to receive free-to-air (FTA) TV channel broadcast from TV channels across the globe. But this often is enhanced if your DIY satellite dish is a multi-dish system. With a customized satellite dish system, you can expect to watch satellite TV channels from hundreds to thousands of satellite TV stations.

But satellite TV is not perfect. People do have a few grouses about watching satellite TV. For each TV at home, you need an additional receiver and a separate coaxial line. The additional receiver would blot up your subscription fees every month. Having a satellite dish sticking out on the roof can be a sore thumb to some folks as well. It can be very troublesome as well for certain states or districts where there is a need for approval from the building authorities.

People can lay the problems of satellite TV to rest now that there is a breakthrough technology that enables folks like us to watch satellite TV on PC using PC satellite TV software. Find out more at my satellite TV blog.

Satellite Radio: The Waves Of The Future?

Satellite Radio Its here! Satellite radio is a new service being offered by two companies, XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio. Both companies are offering over 100 channels of streaming music and entertainment. High quality sound is achieved through the use of satellites orbiting high above. Satellite radio is commercial free and free from regulations by federal committees. The impossible, is now possible, hearing the same radio station across North America and from coast to coast. All made possible by XM satellite radio and Sirius satellite radio.

Normal radio has been around for decades and is part of many people's lifestyle. This is changing. Regular radio is monitored and regulated by the Federal Communications Commission, whom has fined several radio stations and media companies within the last 3-4 years. The FCC has only fined radio stations a maximum of $27,500 per show no matter how man profanities were aired. Recently the FCC has been upping the ante and in conjunction with Congress has decided to raise the fine up to $500,000 per incident per station (Potter). A slap on the wrist has turned into a business-changing event. Sexually explicit comments by Bubba the Love Sponge and Howard Stern could get a station in trouble no doubt about it.

Clear Channel Radio dropped both shock jocks this year after being hit with record fines. (Potter) Recently Howard Stern has made a move to Sirius Satellite wireless in an effort to preserve his career and free speech. Consumers are reaching towards satellite radio as a way to hear unregulated news and content. Recently XM Satellite wireless has claimed to have over 3 million subscribers paying $9.99 per month and Sirius claims to have over 1.3 million customers paying $12.95 per month. Many of those customers pay an additional $2.99 per month for premium content such as the upcoming Howard Stern Show.

Several normal wireless stations and media outlets are realizing the potential to get their message across in a broad fashion. XM has launched a morning show, which is hosted by Bob Edwards, whom was fired earlier this year by National Public Radio. "The Bob Edwards Show" will air on a public satellite wireless channel that also features news and programs from Public wireless International, among others. Sirius has its own public wireless channel carrying NPR programs. Consumers and companies are demanding free speech and it seems that satellite wireless is the vehicle.

XM Satellite wireless and Sirius Satellite wireless have designed satellite broadcast systems that differ but they achieve the same high quality of satellite wireless. A milestone of this success is the fact that satellite wireless signals that are available across the United States and into Mexico and Canada. Rock and Roll No it's not a genre any more! XM Satellite wireless has two satellites named Rock and Roll, which remain in parallel geostationary orbit to provide wireless coverage throughout the United States. Sirius Satellite wireless has chose to use three satellites in an inclined elliptical orbit. This configuration provides 16 hours per satellite of signal, which gives a great redundancy if any satellite were to fail. Playing it smart, Sirius and XM both have spare satellites, which can be called on in a moments notice if needed.

XM satellite wireless and Sirius satellite wireless have Earth based broadcast stations that are used to send up information to the satellites, which is then dispersed through out the globe. Sirius and XM both have disk jockeys that manage, create and program music which is then sent up to the satellites. The information is then taken in by the satellites and sent through a rebroadcast of the streams to earth.

The Major advantage of this is that, unlike earth-based wireless stations whose signals reach listeners 150 miles away, satellite wireless signals have a huge reach, and are receivable anywhere within the continental United States and hundreds of miles in each direction of the borders. Satellite wireless is growing to become a worldwide network and offerings are growing throughout the world. XM satellite radio and Sirius satellite radio are making it happen.

Unregulated Satellite Radio is the answer for free speech in a government regulated airwaves arena. Not only can listeners hear unbiased information but also they can listen to it anywhere in the United States. Media giants are jumping to get the piece of the pie regarding satellite radio, as the new wave of the future is satellite radio.

Watch Satellite TV on Pc – Desktop or Laptop

Technology has made it possible for you to watch satellite TV on PC. This is a dream fulfilled for some. Not long ago, people are still arguing and torn between the two choices - satellite TV and cable TV. While the competition is carrying on, we will take a closer look at these two major entertainment titans and compare them before deciding if we should take up either one or maybe to watch satellite TV on PC would be our choice.

Before we look at the option to watch satellite TV on PC, let us try to understand the background of satellite TV and cable TV. There are clearly two groups of TV viewers, one of them who are subscribers of cable TV, while the other watch satellite TV. Satellite television has always been thought to be more outstanding in terms of TV program quality. Cable TV on the other hand has so far gained an upper hand in terms of TV package pricing. One common grouse of satellite TV viewers is its complicated and not so easy satellite dish installation. To set up the satellite TV, you need to install a satellite dish of suitable size, receiver, cabling, mount and other equipment in order to start receiving satellite TV programs. Fortunately since most satellite service providers also provide free satellite dish installation as part of the package you subscribe for, it saves a great deal of trouble for satellite TV subscribers.

In terms of its availability in different geographical states, both are almost equal. Satellite TV viewers sometimes complain about the occasional disruptions in the TV transmission during bad weather conditions but just in case you are thinking cable TV viewers are spared, they are not either. This flaw is a common issue both groups of TV viewers have to contend with. This effectively levels the playing field for the two titans.

Satellite TV and cable TV are expected to continue to compete in terms of availability of service, quality and selection of TV programs and pricing. But in the midst of it, statistics are revealing that satellite TV is fast growing to become the choice of many viewers. Other than local TV entertainment, satellite TV viewers are pampered with a wide selection of entertainment, information, movies and traditional channels of satellite TV. Anyone can get to watch any program from world news, comedy to TV series, sports games and events and science documentaries using satellite TV. Your children would be entertained by the educational kids channels and cartoons.

These are essentially the two most widely accepted ways to watch TV. You might not be aware but to watch satellite TV on PC is like bringing the best out of the two popular TV entertainment methods. With a broadband internet connection, a computer that can be a desktop or laptop and proprietary PC satellite TV software installed onto your PC, you can instantly watch satellite TV on PC within minutes. This totally eliminates the need for complicated installation of the satellite dish system.

As you know, broadband internet connection is seldom interrupted and this also means that your TV viewing experience would not be interrupted and the TV picture quality is unlikely to experience distortion. You no longer have to miss any exciting episode of your favorite TV show because of a broken transmission of the TV feeds. One greatest benefit to be mentioned is the cost to watch satellite TV on PC. The only investment you are going to fork out is the one-time software cost in order to watch satellite TV on PC.

Looking at the many benefits that PC satellite TV has to offer, this modern TV viewing mode looks set to take the crown in the TV entertainment industry. Read up my satellite TV blog on more information about the software that has enabled many TV viewers to watch satellite TV on PC.
